Two chairs sit at the foot of the bed, flanking a glass dining table, across from a makeup table with a pop-up lighted mirror. The living space includes a couch, desk, small table and two chairs; it can be separated from the bedroom by drawing curtains. That said, I think Riviera offers a very good cruise vacation experience. All of Riviera’s staterooms and suites were entirely refurbished in 2022. They are bright and airy with a decor that reflects the tone and palette of the sea.

Given their lavish interior design by Dakota Jackson and premier location overlooking the bow of the ship, the eight Vista Suites are in high demand. Riviera draws an active crowd of repeat guests, mostly American, who indulge well onboard and explore energetically ashore. While 55+ might cover the age range, I saw plenty of couples and groups of friends who looked younger. These cruisers are a friendly bunch and engage with other passengers in bars and lounges.
That's because dining and cuisine are deeply entwined with the ship and its programming. Cuisine is an art form onboard, with attention given to even the smallest details, from idea to execution. Menus are vast and balanced; even people who don't think of themselves as foodies will be happy with the selection. The 2012-built Oceania Riviera cruise ship is one of the fleet's newest, with sistership Marina. Indeed, the cuisine is given a reverence rarely found on a ship this size. As if to underscore that point there are no fewer than eight dining venues to choose from. The absolutely best aspect (besides the ports) of my sail was the food and wine.
